looks pretty good
EA and RD accept the same percentage of people, so it doesn't help if you do either (the number is still 22 percentish)
But jw, what is your intended major, what school are you applying to?

Attending a catholic high school really doesn't mean anything to GTown (Unless its a recruited jesuit hs). But anyways good luck, you have great numbers which will help you out a lot and your ECs aren't that bad. You have some stuff that will help. GL with Brown and Georgetown.

Statistically, I think you're probably ok. Georgetown seems to like international exchanges, so if that opportunity arises, I say go for it. Your community service looks pretty strong so far, and that should help.

Good luck with colleges (but you'll have to forgive me if I pooh-pooh Brown.)

They're not going to care about an upward trend in a few percentage points at that high end, the numbers are totally artificial and there's no real difference between them. That's why most schools just use letter grades because it's ridiculous to say that because you got a 97% one year you've improved since the next year you got a 98%. If I were a college admissions officer, I'd be really annoyed at things like precise percentages for class grades or that so-called "character rating." I'd not even bother sending it in...they're not going to consider something like that.

I don't care if they wouldn't consider it -- Why would I not send in an award I earned?

As for the upward trend, I point it out for mainly two reasons.
1, I think it shows that I've learned to improve. Freshman year was really rocky for me, and I'm glad I proved to myself that I can always do better than before.

2, I go to a VERY competitive Catholic school. If you have a 95% average, kids don't even consider that smart. Until you enter the realm of 98/99%, then kids actually notice who you are. So at my school, having a 95% average and a 98% average is a huge difference in class rank.

Of the applicants from my school in last year's graduating class applying to Georgetown, 90% of those who were in the top 5% of the class AND scored a 1400+/1600 SAT were accepted.
