I just want to know if I have a decent chance of getting in?
Also, what do you think I need to improve upon?

Yeah, I'd say you have a good chance... but you never know. Make sure you have a good interview. Bates will like your debate experience, they have one of the best debate teams in the country.

Thanks autmaine,

I never knew that Bates had one of the best debate teams in the country. That is good to know, seeing that I am looking to continue my debating in college.

Yeah, they're pretty well known for debating. Go to: http://abacus.bates.edu/people/orgs/debate/ to find out more. It's one of the oldest teams in the country. They compete against Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Yale, and all the big schools every year (article: http://www.bates.edu/x62228.xml). They do well on an international level. It's really good for kids who are thinking about law school. I think you could get in to Bates, if you show that's where you want to go. Bates, however, is known for being really wacky with admissions, you just can never tell.

If they like you as a person you have great chances. Just be friendly and talk about how you love Bates.
