You have a chance to get in at all of them. I don’t mean to be racist, but black people make up only about 15% of the population, therefore there are far, far fewer intelligent blacks due to lack of numbers. A black man with a 2400 in very uncommon, because there is about 300 a year. That means only 45 blacks have perfect scores. Because your GPA is solid and you are a URM, you will likely get in anywhere.

“Only about 300 or so seniors got a perfect SAT score of 2400 last year. I believe a lot more get perfect ACT scores but not sure how many. You are in an elite group… REGARDLESS of your race.”

That’s definitely not true, I know of two Asian males with 2400 on the SAT who got rejected or waitlisted at all of HPYMS.

dude. you are a black male with goood grades, a 2400, and several great extracurriculars. schools value diversity, they will be fighting over you.

I know of a black kid who got a 29 and got into Vanderbilt, and not being racist at all, there are incredibly few students of color in the engineering fields. I have to agree with some of the earlier comments that you are going to be pretty much accepted to ALL of those schools.

Congratulations ! So you chose Cal over Stanford/harvard? Did Cal get you an athletic scholarship as well? Just curious as haven’t heard too many folks chosing cal over Stanford.

Your list of Colleges:
Dartmouth ED
Stanford
Cornell
Duke
UC Berkeley
UC Davis
UCSB
MIT
UIUC
UChicago
Ann Arbor
Harvard
Princeton
Harvey Mudd
Caltech

Wow ok not to be racist but since you’re black and have this outstanding profile I’d be surprised if you were rejected from anywhere but Harvard (cause it’s admission process is so secretive and weird).

fongle, Congratulations on your admissions success. My S is a current freshman mechanical engineering major at UC Berkeley. He got a paid, fulltime position interning this summer for an Orange County CA company that liked the fact that he was an engineering major at Cal.

are these all of the places you’re applying? or are you applying to more? because these are great stats, and you have a good shot at all of them. in fact, i’d cut 5-7 off your list, so you can save up that money from application fees for when you get to college.

I don’t know how tough your school or teacher is, but I think a family emergency is a viable excuse. And your community service is a major hole in your resume.

With the scores you have it sounds needy to mention your race, be proud of your scores, they are unbelievable, but don’t be proud because you got them “despite your race”

you will get into atleast one of your choices. pretty good profile. Congrats on the SAT score, dont bother on the SAT phy, ur academics are pretty good anyway. chance back :)
