You will be totally fine. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the chances. I sure hope I get in.

One thing though, when you “chanced” me, did you take into account that I’m out of state? I read somewhere that UW favors instate more then out of state.

@j814wong recently, UW has been favoring out of state more than in state. objectively speaking, my friends from out of state that were admitted to UW have worse stats than some of my in-state friends who were waitlisted/rejected. take this with a grain of salt though, since I’m about to be a junior at UW, so i am talking about admissions 2 years ago.

i don’t think it really matters any more… the IS acceptance rate is about 58%, while the OOS accept rate is about 58%. Of course, everybody has high stats, so the 58% accept rate doesn’t really mean anything.

Plus, the average GPA at my school, in Minnesota, for our class accepted into UW was 3.76 unweighted. And Minnesota is probably one of the more high-performing states in the nation. So no worries.

Thanks for the info particularly in regards to admissions statistics for in state or out of state applicants. Udubhuskie, what class rank were most accepted applicants from your school?

Sent from my MB525 using CC

we don’t rank. but, most of them were probably in the top 10 percent, if you want a rough estimate.

Ah ok. Thanks. I’m sure I’m at least the top 20% and perhaps even the top 10%

You should get into UW, but direct admission into CSE is probably a reach.

Aopsgirl, UW’s website says they don’t look at SAT II scors so I’ll focus on SAT I. What sort of scores would increase my chances to perhaps a strong chance of admissions to CSE department?

I’m not sure how much SAT scores matter for CSE, and your scores are pretty good already, but a higher math score would probably help. However, direct admission is very competitive and plenty of applicants with good stats don’t get in. Have you taken physics or calculus AB? Good grades in those classes would help you.

I’ve taken Physics Honors classes. Next year I will take Ap BC Calculus. Caluculus in my school is lnly allowed for seniors.
