Plz list my following schools as safety/reach/match ok thank u so much:
TCNJ (1st choice)
U Notre Dame
Wake Forest
U Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Loyola College in MD
Ohio State-Columbus
SUNY Binghamton
Case Western Reserve

Black + 1250 SAT + 9 AP's = HYPS

Shoot for the stars, kid.

Not necessary- a lot of URM are rejected from HYPs, although their stats are stellar. If you haven't noticed, this year's competition is very intense. Therefore, accepted early applicants have high test scores. I am not saying that you shouldn't apply to HYP, but they will be reaches for you unless you have special circumstances or hooks.

Colleges, such as all-white elitist schools, such as the ivies, are experiencing an evident dearth of URM's. Goto Harvard and look around; I dare you to find 5 black people. You won't. Ivy Leagues are looking for black and hispanic people. It's wrong, but they need diversity and if it means that some inner-city black kid with a 1000 SAT should be admitted to "add" diversity to the campus, then so be it.

No they aren't. Harvard has 39% minorities. Black students are 9% of the population there.

Given your ethnicity...apply to some ivy's.

agreed
First Gen? low income?

yea, what kind of high school did you go to?

Nice job with karate, I do tae kwon do and kung fu =). Several trophies for form and sparring, but you'd prolly beat me down because I don't like to go all out on someone I haven't ever met.

Guys, we didn't answer OP's question.

I say you have a decent chance in all those schools you're applying. Good luck!

My advice - apply to a lot of ivys..

TCNJ (1st choice) - Why is this your first choice???? You could get merit aid at a MUCH better school. TCNJ is rarely known outside Jersey and even there doesnt have a top rep.
U Notre Dame - Accepted
Wake Forest - Accepted
U Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - Accepted
Loyola College in MD - Accepted w/ money
Ohio State-Columbus - Accepted w/ money
SUNY Binghamton - Accepted w/ money
Case Western Reserve Accepted maybe w/ money

HYPS is a big stretch (Henry is on drugs), but you are aiming low with wayyy too many safeties. Add places like Georgetown, Emory, Rice, and maybe Northwestern or Cornell.

HYPS is a big stretch for anyone.
But still give it a shot, who knows you might get lucky.

Definetly apply to Cornell.

just a thought.

thx so much 4 the advice...no my income is not really low....my mother died of cancer and my aunt was murdered by her husband during junior year...i still think ivy is way out of my league though...i would be very surprised if i got in2 notre dame though

also my rank is 67/553=top 12% by midyear i should be top 10%...

You've faced more adversity than 99% of us on CC and have performed well. You'd get into all your schools regardless of race probably.

Yeah you are WAY underestimating yourself.

thx 4 the encouragement lol yet im doubtful...i heard notre dame was all about numbers...all i really care about is a school other than binghamton and ohio state that will give me a lot of money

tcnj is my 1st choice and notre dame is my dream school...

TCNJ: Match
U Notre Dame: Match
