I posted a chance thread a while back, but I hadn't done a lot of stuff or finalized things yet...

So here it goes

GPA-4.0.. 102ish
Top 12% (That's weird, a suma grad in the top 12%...it's my school district's temporary ranking system, where fine arts is basically a punishment)

SAT- M+CR 1200 Total- 1790
Courses- (I've just listed my APs over the years)
AP English 3 &4
Calculus AB
AP US Hisotry
AP Comparative Politics
AP Music Theory
AP Government
AP Economics

I've also taken 4 sciences, (bio, chem and physics were Pre-AP, and I took Engineering Mechanics) And I have been in fine arts all 4 years. I was in orchestra the first two years, and band the second 2.

EC-
Model UN-3 years, current secretary general
NHS-2 years, current Secretary
Band 2 years, current drum major (and a member of various enesembles, including 1st band)
Golf Varsity-1 year
Currently attending a magnet school, all 4 years
200+ volunteer hours

Work experience-summer job at Six Flags, internship with band director

I want to pursue music education and double major in business...

I just found out that my audition has to happen before my admission decision is made. If I pass the audition, they look at that and my application. If I don't pass, they just review my normal application as if I was a regular undeclared student.

If the former happens, do I have a chance?

Thanks!

Grades are good, but how weighted are they? You have a 102 average and you aren't in the top 10%? How is that even possible?

Your SAT score is in the lower half of the middle 50% I believe. Not going to guarantee entry, not going to prevent it.

You might want to take the SAT in January and see if you can get the score up a bit.

I would say you are borderline to get admitted Undeclared Liberal Arts.

I have no idea how Fine Arts admissions works, sorry I can't help there.

What are your scores for the Ap tests.. Your sat score is weak, that is a close percentage so your pretty borderline. Enough as far as ECs, I don't think it is possible to double major in business and music education. You won't get into the business school as a freshman.

My rank doesn't make sense with my GPA because of my school district's ranking system. I had them send a school profile with my application so the admissions office would know this. For the next 3 years, anyone coming from this district will have a screwed up rank. Oh well.

I can double major in music ed and business, I just won't be able to start until my second year. Anyway I've already spoken to some business recruiters about it and so that's taken care of.

So my SAT scores are a bit low...I took the test twice already and I only went up by 200 points (which is the one I posted). So you really think one more time will help ? (I don't mean this to be sarcastic, I really want to know if taking it a third time is a good idea)

Well if you take the test again, study for a month at go up another 200 points, you will have a 2000 and you will have a much greater chance to be admitted.

Have you looked into the ACT? You might be able to do better there. However, the last acceptable date is TOMORROW (though they might accept the February scores, I'm not sure).

Hm, well I guess there's no harm in trying one more time. And I haven't taken the ACT, but people keep telling me I should take it. I do think they would accept February scores, especially since they won't be looking at admitting me until after my audition, which is in late February. (I think it is odd that they would schedule an audition for someone who hasn't been admitted, but I guess that's how UT rolls...)

Okay, well thanks guys. I will consider taking the test again. :)
