I'm out of state from Rhode Island (Would being from a state like RI help?)
My Class Rank is 28/400
GPA- 3.7 UW 4.1 Weighted
SATs- 620 Math 670 CR 630 Writing
Captain on a varsity sports team.
Worked since 10th grade
National Honor Society
School leadership academy
4 AP's, virtually all honors classes

I was put into RD pool cuz my counselor forgot to send something and I still got my acceptance before 12/24. Does it really matter if you apply early or regular?

I actually think OP could have a decent chance… really varies on the rest of the application. I would be sure to say decent if you were in-state, but due to economy out of state couldl help… so maybe a decent chance.

The school doesn’t state that it will give preference towards your application, they just strongly encourage one to. As one who applied ER and was deferred ( 7th semester grades- notified) I now wish I didn’t, since statistically I now will hear as all the other RD apps… but even before my application can be further evaluated I have to send my 7th semester grades to possibly get accepted.

SamIam… why have kids with ACT scores of 30+ been deferred, but kids with ACT scores below 28 haven’t? UM is one school that takes your test score into consideration but it isn’t end all be all for the applicant if they don’t do well. Sure, UM wants an outstanding student but they don’t want someone who is hollow-bodied.

Yes, U of M definitely likes well-rounded students (in fact, it clings to them like a child to a security blanket). But they’re like every other college; when things come down to the wire, it all boils down to straight numbers.

nmcm007, I’m aware that Michigan reviews every part of the application, but it’s no secret that the most important part is the academics. Obviously being well-rounded will help, but if you are OOS and apply this late in the game, you are going to need to be really talented academically to have a shot at admission.
