Hi everybody - this is my first chances post so I'll just give it my best shot and keep it as short as possible :)

I am a junior in high school, so I'd like some advice on what I can improve/what looks good and what doesn't, especially for my extracurriculars. I plan to pursue engineering in college. I am also interested in NROTC if anyone has advice on that.

Some of the schools I'm interested in:
[ul]
[]Rice (currently my number one)
[]Georgia Tech (probably number two)
[]Cornell (not sure if I'll apply, but I'm very interested)
[]Columbia (^)
[li]Brown[/li]/list

Academic stats:
[list]
[]Junior at well-respected public high school
[]4.0 GPA freshman and sophomore years w/ several honors courses (school doesn't weight)
[]Currently taking AP Calc, AP Bio, 3rd year Japanese plus my school's standard junior year English and History classes and an elective.
[]Realistically, hoping to keep my GPA around 3.85-3.95 for this year.
[]Senior year: AP English Lit, AP Physics, AP Calc BC, 4th year Japanese plus required credits/electives.
[]Senior year is usually easier at my school, so should make a GPA of 3.9-4.0.
[]For those of you not counting, that will give me an overall unweighted GPA of at least 3.93.
[]Took PSAT last year as a sophomore, scored 222.
[li]For engineering, Ill have a few technical drawing/drafting elective courses completed by the time I apply[/li][/ul]

Extracurriculars:
[ul]
[]Tap dance classes at professional dance studio (not competitive); annual commitment is a little bit more than one sports season. Will have 9 years under my belt when I graduate, with a professionally staged performance each year.
[]Volunteer at local library - will have 4 years of service and over 150 hours by application.
[]Also served on librarys teen advisory board (application-based leadership/service position) for 2-3 years.
[]Summer work program for local parks district - pulling invasive species for 2 weeks, 5 hrs a day. Hoping to do it again next summer.
[]NHS
[]Private piano lessons - just casual stuff. Im not gonna be playing Carnegie Hall or anything, but Ive taken for almost 10 years.
[/ul]

Thanks all!
