Hey, I just found this website and I can't believe I didn't find it sooner! I was actually wondering what my chances are at getting accepted into the University of Chicago. Any advice is greatly appreciated especially from those who are currently attending UChicago.

Here are my credentials:
Junior at a large, highly competitive, public high school in Kansas
GPA (unweighted): 4.0 (all 'A's since freshmen year)
GPA (weighted): 4.5 (this is what I project my GPA to be by the end of senior year)
Class Rank: top 3% (in a class of about 550)
ACT: I haven't taken the ACT yet, but I project my score will be in the range of 29-32
AP/Honors classes: AP English (9, 10, 11, 12 grades), AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP American Government, AB Calculus, Honors Pre-Calc, French IV (which counts for college credit at my school)
*I will be taking the AP tests for the classes above next spring and the spring following next spring.
ECs:
Orchestra (7th-12th grade)
Debate (9th-12th grade)
Forensics/Speech (10th grade)
French National Honors Society
National Honors Society
Hospital Volunteer (about 200 hours)
President's National Service Award (twice; both bronze)

If you need any additional information, let me know. Please note that some of these figures are projected because I am only a junior in high school. Any comments, sugestions, and advice is greatly appreciated!

Why do people insist on giving their GPA for the end of their senior year? UChicago will not see that and, in most cases, won't really care that about your midyear transcript.

Anyways, you look like a great student with a great chance. Just try to stand out with a good essay and you're in.

For early admission, what cummulative GPA would I have to submit? Would it only be my 9th-11th grade GPAs? Also, what is UChicago's EA policy? If you apply for early admission and are accepted, are you obligated to attend the university?

Seem a little low on ECs (then again, I had pretty poor stats), but if you can do the essays well and talk about what you do outside of school that is significant, you can get in... I would apply EA to help yourself out a bit. Good luck!

With good ACT scores, you are in. Buy a book and study, unless you are planning to take one of those expensive courses. I wouldn't worry about more/better ECs, unless you want to, or think that you need to for other schools. Yours seem to be good enough, the only thing is no leadership. Show interest and do an interview.
