Chances Advice.....

If you ask for aid as an international student, you’re placed into a separate, highly competitive applicant pool, that significantly lowers your chances of admission.

Its definitely not bad. If I remember correctly, it was ranked somewhere in the 30s. But other school, like Purdue, are easier to get into, and have a higher rank. Wharton sort of dominates the UPenn reputation.

How is Purdue for non-engg courses?Like the pure/applied sciences?

I’m not totally sure. IMO its only good for engineering.

PerfectPixie, I think UIUC is better than Purdue in that regard.
UMD is not bad either. UMD has decent engineering program as well. Their ECE department is very well respected in the industry. [University of Maryland | Electrical and Computer Engineering Department](http://www.ece.umd.edu/Research/spotlight/communications/)

UIUC.I’ll look into that.Im going to be performing a major college list change…I need some warmer schools on my list! But they’re generally hard to get into with aid innit? The good one’s in warm places that is.Claremont-here I come!
I seriously had no idea that temprature at Cornell goes to -50 degree celcius.I’d probably die there!I could survive in +50 degree celcius np,but -,uuhhhh.

Cornell is in a terrible town, on a terrible hill, and experiences terrible weather. If it wasn’t Ivy League…

Maryland’s CS dept. is among the best.

UIUC is tougher to get into Purdue. No financial aid for internationals whatsoever.

My sister used to die in the -50*C temp at Cornell. It’s crazy. Plus you gotta walk a lot to get from one class to another. So she used to really suffer in the winters

I loathe winters with a higher intensity than I love summers. And Im a summer girl.I mean,I have to wear six layers of clothing in delhi winters and I still feel cold when I go out.
Minnesotta’s as bad isnt it?Or is it worse?
There should be a declaration about the weather on the college website homepage.
“-50 degrees temp.Apply at own risk.”

Haha!

Apparently Minn is supposed to be as bad.

I guess you’ll get used to the harsh temperatures because the body will adjust itself to the new environment {hormone secretion, etc.}

MN can be just as bad. Go to west coast if you want milder weather.
Reed college has excellent science/applied science program. Plus, Portland area is very beautiful.

I prefer getting baked/steamed to being refridgerated.

How is Reed for Aid?I have been looking at it before…gosh,I really need to get more serious about my college list.Tippu, you have a preference for the west coast isnt it?

Then, Rice is the perfect spot for you.

Did somebody else also spot the pun in Tippu’s post?

ha.ha.ha. 10char

No, I meant it.

Wait,Rice UNIversity is in texas. Not minesotta. That’s the city of Rice.
So,I didn’t get what you were talking about aniruddh.

Because you tend to steam rice, and not refrigerate it.

Oh,right.lol.

=))…the Indian forum has a tendency to deviate from the main post…

my own profile is very similar to AnuragK’s - except that my SAT is at 2310 and some other minor variations. Chances at Cornell/Dartmouth under ED???

btw, how is Dartmouth for engg??? average, or worth it?? It offers substantial aid I’ve heard - and nevermind its rural location or the weather…
