I was just deferred from ED to regular decisions.
do I have a better chance then others? or what do you think…

Strong essays - know lots about BU and expressed that in my essays.

have been babysitting since i was in 7th grade (job)
volunteered babysitting during the PTA meetings

Same happened to me. I was really excited about hopefully getting in early, but I’m just reminding myself that it’s not a denial. Your stats look really good! Mine:

GPA (Unweighted): 3.35
GPA (Weighted): 4.1
SAT: 1880
Played clarinet for about 5 years, got involved in concert band freshman year, participate in many cultural organizations, as well as various community service organizations such as Students Rebuild, G.R.A.C.E. Project, etc. Writing’s my strong point, so I believe my essay was pretty solid. My grades are the best they’ve been since freshman year so far, so I’m hoping if I keep them up I’ll make the RD cut.

This is just my experience, doesn’t have to be yours. My older sibling got rejected with higher GPA and stats than yours, excelent ECs, essay, etc. I had similar stats to you guys, excellent ECs, got deferred and then rejected. I was accepted at GWU. so I have no idea what their hollistiic approach is. I wish you both good luck!

although i’m applying to about a million other colleges BU is my dream and I would really do anything to go there,
do you think I should go there and talk to someone to see if maybe I could get into CGS instead? Right now i’m applying to CAS because I want to do pre-med, but for CGS you just transfer into your school of choice after a year/two depending, What are you going to do Chief2011?

After much debate, and a lot of talking with students I know who are currently enrolled there, I’ve decided to stick with the school I applied to. I’m applying to COM at BU and, while I’ve heard it’s pretty popular, I’ve also heard that as long as they want you at their school BU will PUT you into CGS. So if I were you, I’d do this: send a brief, sincere letter to admissions stating that while you’ve been deferred to RD, Boston University is STILL your absolute first choice. I’d also stick with CAS if I were you. If they want us bad enough, they’ll put us into CGS. I wish you the best of luck, and really hope you get in! Trust me, I know the feeling :)
