How likely do you think it is that I'll be admitted to UIUC? I originally applied under priority but I am now deferred. I am applying to LAS as a Political Science major and go to a fairly competitive suburban Chicago school. Thanks.

Stats:
Unweighted GPA: 3.3
Weighted GPA: 3.8
ACT: 33
Class Rank: Top 20%
My AP classes have been US History, US Government, Macroeconomics, Latin Literature, English Language, Human Geography, and I am taking Calculus AB and Chemistry this year.
My main EC's are Varsity Basketball and Mathletes. I am also in a couple other honorary societies and am an AP Scholar with Distinction. Thanks.

They look quite solid (especially the ACT score), but I’m guessing the cause for the deferral was mainly your GPA. My several poli sci friends here all performed worse than you in high school and UIUC, IIRC, accepts a majority of the students it defers, so keep your head up.

I hate to hijack this thread, but can anybody chance me after deferral?

u of i lets in over fifty percent of deferrals due to their common practice of considering people for their first choice of major. lets say for example u applied to engineering and were deferred, since engineering is a very difficult major to be admitted to u could have had a 30 act good gpa and get deferred. u probably couldhave been admitted into another program, but u of i tends to wait until the regular decision applications are all looked at, and if u can get in your first choice they will put u in it. otherwise they will typically admit u to a different major.

Ok thanks…anyone else?

An ACT of 33 and you’re a White Sox fan? I thought you’d have the common sense to be a Cub fan. ;)
