Ever since I was about ten years old, there has been one college and one college only that I have wanted to attend.
Appalachian State University.
When it comes to academics, it looks as if there would be no doubt that I would get in. Now a senior, classmates in my six AP classes aiming for UNC-CH scoff at my choice. My credentials definitely don't scream "Ivy League," but as a mostly A's student (a few B's and one C in an AP class I should have never taken) with a weighted GPA that is over a 4.0 (unweighted I think is 3.8,) 1910 SAT, and EC's that include the National Thespian Society, constant community service, founder and President of my high school's Chess Club two years running, and pilot-in-training, it seems that I would be a shoo-in.

Except for one pretty big black mark on my record.

I was suspended. Twice.
For the same thing.

To keep this simple: Sophomore year, my boyfriend and I got suspended for 5 days after being caught engaging in sexual activity on the football field.
Junior year, I had an off campus lunch pass and a car. (He had changed schools but had come home to visit on a day that I had school.) I was under the impression that if we were off campus during lunch, it would be okay. We were somewhat near the school, in my car. Two cops caught us and I received another 5 day suspension. My boyfriend got to go home scott free.
At the time I was frustrated because I thought that we had "beat the system" by not being on campus. Looking back now, I realize how poor my judgement was, and have significantly matured from this experience. But that doesn't make this black mark disappear.

Anyway... I've heard that one suspension as an underclassman usually doesn't hurt an applicant's chances too badly, unless it's something like assault or plagiarism, if the applicant can explain that he or she learned from the experience.
But... how bad does it look having two of the same thing?
