southern california is cheaper compared to the bay area. san fran houses are damn expensive. easily over a million in most parts. same with west san jose

A C counts as a B for an AP class. So no, your life is not over. I've gotten C's, even D's (I made up those D's at a community college tho) and I still got into some pretty good UC's.

It also depends somewhat on what school you go to and what will show up on your transcript. In my school, they only show colleges what you get after one year (unless the classes are only one semester long). If your school does this, and the other semester can bring your average up to a B or whatever...you'll be aok ;)

this is the most ridiculous thread ever... a C is definitely fine for a top 100 school and top 50... but if you are that stupid to have to ask that you are probably too stupid to get in... and 100k is not upper middle class... doesnt matter where u live in america 100k will never be upper middle class

A C will only have a severely negative impact on your chances at a top 15 school. Maybe top 20. From there till 50 it's just something to frown upon that can be compensated for. Beyond 50 it's acceptable.

And yeah, you don't factor in cost of living to your economic class - it's based solely on your household income and assets.

i am from california and sorry to inform u but 100k is considered upper middle class. do you know that about 75% of the state is on welfare? well id u didnt, u do know. since ur upper 25% that does indeed make you upper middle class

Wow...out of nowhere this thread comes back. I actually don't even remember writing this, but I guess at that time I was feeling kind of angsty and overly-paranoid.
