Hi, I'm a junior at a mediocre public high school in Tennessee. I have a 4.0 unweighted gpa and I got a 29 my first time taking the ACT and I'm planning on taking it again (hoping for a 31 next time). I'm involved in tons of clubs and whatnot: HOSA president, Anchor Club, Beta Club, National Honors Society, Math Honors, Science Honors, Foreign Language Honors, 4 years varsity cheer, blah blah blah. I'll have taken 11 honors classes and 3 APs by graduation. I'm going to be applying to the College of Heath Science and Human Development, which I'm a little worried about because it has the lowest acceptance rate.
Now onto my questions. It seems to me like Clemson places a large importance on class rank. Here's the problem: my school doesn't rank by weighted GPAs. Everyone with a 4.0 shares the same ranking of 1/314. I think there are about 15 of us 4.0s. My question is this: what should put on my application? Will the shared ranking hurt my chances of getting in?
Also, how does the early decision process work and how will it affect my chances?

Thanks! Clemson is my number one!

If you’re ranked #1 in your class then you should put that on your application! They won’t care too much about any shared ranks, they’ll just see that what you were ranked (unless for some strange reason your high school decided to share this information). It definitely won’t affect your chances of getting in.

There actually isn’t an “early decision” process for Clemson. I would suggest that you apply before the December 1st deadline though so that you can get your decision letter around February 15th (if you apply afterwards, you’ll receive it after that date). Also if you apply before December 1st, you will get full consideration for all available scholarships so you should definitely apply before then.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thank you so much! You’re so helpful. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

I don’t think getting in should be a problem for you (unless something crazy happens). You’re ranked #1, have a 4.0 GPA and your ACT score as of right now is in the middle 50% of what people accepted to Clemson have (of course if you raise it, you’d have a better shot at getting into the honors college).
