Chances and a question?

I am currently a high school senior from the DC area.
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.5 UW, 4.3 W
(I know my GPA is kind of lousy for McGill standards, but it is due to the courseload I have taken over the past 3 years)
9th: 6 honors
10th: 6 honors, 1 AP
11th: 4 AP, 1 honors
12th: 4 AP, 1 honors

Will applying as an English major help my chances? I have only received one B my sophomore year in honors English. The rest were A's. In 11th grade I aced AP English Language and this year I am taking AP English Literature.

And, if I am accepted as an English major, will I be able to transfer before enrolling in the university?

While your GPA is a bit low, I’d say you would be a match for Arts.

If admitted to Arts, you can certainly change your major within Arts with no problem. You could not request a change to Science, Management etc. prior to enrolment though.

yeah, you’ll get in.

You can try this. You get two choices on your application. First choice can be English, the second can be whatever you want to transfer into.

If you get accepted into both of them, then you can decide which one to enroll in.

You can transfer, but mcgill administration is very bureaucratic.
