Chances and Advice please.

Hey, just started in my my junior year and I was just curious if anyone could give some advice on what I need to tweak on.

Asian-American Male

Awards:

My biggest regret was not getting involved till my sophomore year, but I was in Mock Trial freshmen year. I plan on staying in and pursuing a larger role for my senior year in all of the clubs. In Key Club, I'm trying to decide if I want to run for a club officer or Lt. Gov (district position). I was also briefly a part of the Beta Club, but the sponsor left midway through the year.

Extracurriculars I plan to join or start this year:
School Advisory Council
National Honor Society (Upperclassmen Required, plan on running for VP)
Spanish Honor Society (Co-Founding this with Spanish Pres. and VP)
Boys State, if I'm accepted

And I may go for Tennis this year and senior year, and Golf senior year (Had a really bad game at try outs). I'm considering attempting to get a spot on the school board. Perhaps find a job or internship in a local law firm or in finance. I still am undecided as to major or what career I will pursue.

My problem seems to be with standardized testing. And the fact that I can't run for Class President or SGA Officers/Senators or else I get stuck into the SGA Leadership Class.

Colleges that I've thought about are EA Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, and University of Florida. But if anyone can recommend any schools that would be great.

Any advice will be really greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

[ul]
If you were a rising senior Harvard and Columbia would be enormous reaches. Cornell would be a big reach. U of Florida is about a match.
[/ul]

[ul]
I can't reccomend schools if you don't say what kind of a school you want.
[/ul]

[ul]
Take some SAT IIs you'll do well in, work on your SAT I and hope for the best.
[/ul]

Grade inflation. All those schools are very unrealistic other than U of F.

Your grades, test scores, and leadership would make you a good candidate for any of the five service academies.

If you are really a bored pirate you might think about the United States Merchant Marine Academy. www.usmma.edu

You will spend a year at sea while you are there and have a lot more options upon graduation than you will from the other four academies. S finished his first year there and is now in the middle of the Pacific having completed 2/3rds of an eventual circumnavigation of the earth beginning in the end of June.

Good Luck

theirs a thread in cc that i saw about how "who's who in american high schools" is all bs, and shouldn't even be listed. I myself got it and didn't fill it the scam out. It's worthless.

um duh.

You might want to consider some schools that dont take the SAT. I think Grinnel (Indiana) is one, and Drew (NJ) is another.

you probably have no chance at harvard, nor columbia. i am sory to say that.... but you have to desperately increase your SAT score to at least a 2200 to stand a chance.

Actually, for Who's Who, I just filled it out and sent it in but didn't actually buy it. That was your in it, but you didn't waste your money except on stamps. Yeah I know my SAT scores need improving but hey I'm taking it winter this year and summer. I'm also planning on taking SAT IIs in Physics, Spanish, Literature, and Math 2C.

Some clarification if any: I currently attend the top school in my county. There are only 6, so we beat 4, and slightly topple one. And I currently have 200+ hours through the Teen Court program and another 150 or so through Key Club.

As for schools I'm looking for, I really don't know what I have in mind exactly. Some other schools I've considered were Brown, Dartmouth, Duke, Emory, UNC-Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, Carnegie Mellon, and Georgetown.

Oh and boredpirate was just an inside joke that grew into a signature screenname.

Thanks for the replies so far.
