Chances and advices for a hs student?

Sorry guys, I know there are alot of these types of posts but this would really help me. >_<

I am going to be a junior this year and I am wondering what would be the chances of me going into a state college like (UIUC) and good schools like (Northwestern) or just ok state colleges like (UIC). As you can tell I'm from Illinois =)

I don't know what I want to major in. I guess it's a problem. But I want to decide later and have alot of open options for now. I thinking more math and science related majors or business, well just something realistic.

I have few questions in this post. and btw, I'm Taiwanese

So I dont really know how to calculate the unweighted GPA cuz I'm not sure if electives count or if freshman year counts or not. so I'll just give you my high school GPA, 4.2. It should be around 4.2-4.4 by senior year

I take alot of honors, I always get B's in weighted english. Usually A's in weighted math. A's and B's for weighted science. A's for regular social studies, A's for orchestra, and A's for chinese. I doubled in science last year so I already got all 3 (chem, bio, and physics) out of the way

I am going to take

AP Lang
AP Calc BC
Regular US History
Chinese IV (weighted this year =))
AP Chem
and AP Stats/Orchestra

Should I take AP stats or Orchestra? I'm probably not going to major in music. But I heard that colleges like seeing 4 years participation in things and I personally enjoy music although it is a nonweighted class. Orchestra would also not really affect my GPA because I can pass fail it this year (juniors and seniors). I also have a shot at winning district for a orchestra state competition.

One problem is that I don't have much leadership, do you guys have any ways to boost that? I am a little quiet. I only have a section leader position in a club.

My extracurriculars:

Orchestra (5-10?)
Math Team (9-Now (regular member))
Scholastic Bowl (10- Dont know if i should do this or not (regular member))
Renaissance Strings (10- Dont know if i should do this either but I was 2nd violin section leader)
DECA (9-Now (regular member))

Planning to do:
Chinese Club
Key Club (volunteering)

Can you guys tell me the ones that said I dont know if I should continue on doing or not if i should really do it? I volunteer at a children's museum weekly and hopefully I can get volunteer in for hospital. I have about 50 hours right now. How much would be good for college?

Achievements:

National Honors Chinese Society (10-Now)
Various Piano and Violin Competition Medals ( before high school )

I dont know if I should NHS. The application seems a little like a short college app and I'm not sure if I'll make it in. I also heard it doesn't really help. Is it worth it to try and get in?

Also, I have took the SAT freshman year and got a 1700-ish (yes thats horrible) and I took the ACT seventh grade and got 24.

I am really bad in terms of reading and writing so the SAT would be hard for me to score high. I am more math and science oriented. I think I'll get around 2000 for SAT and 30+ for ACT this year. So I'm guessing the ACT would be better and I'll aim for the midwest region.

What type of college can I get into? I know it's a bit low for ivy schools but I'm not sure if it's even safe for colleges like UIUC.

Other recommendations and advices would be helpful!
Thank you guys for helping ^^

This is up to you. You should take whatever you think you’ll enjoy the most. If you have a shot at winning district then go for orchestra.

You should try to get some officer positions in your clubs or become a captain of sports team.

Once again do only the things that you think you’ll enjoy. Definitely keep volunteering at the hospital. Try to go for over 100 hours of volunteering.

You should try to get into NHS. In my opinion, I think it’ll help.

If you can get a 30+ on the ACT, I think you can get in to UIUC and UIC. Northwestern is more of a low reach, but you still have good chance.

Hi, I’m 15 years old and am currently a junior. I have a 3.5 gpa and took the ACT for practice/just to see how it’d go with no prep in December and got a 25 (( I am retaking it again and hope to get a 28-30 hopefully! I am Junior Class President, heavily involved in Student Council, Part of NHS-going to be an officer next year, actively involved in Key Club and voleenteer countless hours. I am also an active voleenteer in my church. I was selected for leadership in my states’s conference. I have taken challenging classes my whole high school career and took 2 AP Classes this year and am taken 4 next year. I also job shadow my dentist. I want to be a dentist or an oral surgeon and am applying for UIC this June early admission. Do you think I can get in with my current stats? I am praying so because it is the only school that tuition is reasonable and yet offers a strong medical field. I have also been on varsity tennis for 3 years and varsity track for 3 years. I hope to appear well rounded. Thank you for reading this and taking the time to answer, I appreciate it very much as I come from a middle-class family and do not have many options for college due to my low gpa and only a couple schools offer pre-dental in Illinois and their tuition is well out of my range. Thanks once again!
