will apply for Robertson --Chances on that? Is that mostly awarded to OOS?
How much harder is it for OOS?

Your SAT scores and your GPA are excellent. I'm guessing you won't have a problem with acceptance. (Just guessing, of course, since nobody knows for sure--except the admissions folks.)

As far as the Robertson, it doesn't really matter if you're in-state or out-of-state. No clear advantage either way. Typically, more are awarded to out-of-state students each year than in-state, though.

While your academic profile will most likely get your application pulled aside for general merit consideration, you have to remember that with the Robertson, you're competing with every application to UNC and to Duke (if you decide to apply there, too). To get nominated, though, they look for much more than just great academics. Looks like you've been very involved, but it's tough to know what it is that will appeal--with any of these type of top scholarship programs.

If you go on the website, though, you can read about what they look for in a Robertson Scholar. You can also read some of the current and past Scholar profiles.

If you're nominated, you subsequently have to go through an initial phone interview and a finalist weekend with other nominees, and more interviews.
I do think the competition is fierce. Just to be nominated is a feat in itself!

You can complete a supplement asking to be considered, too. For your general application to UNC, and for your Robertson supplement (if you complete one), remember to take great care with all the essays.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

In part, they state:

Robertson Scholars are chosen on the basis of six criteria:

Behavior that is grounded in strong ethical principles
Superior academic achievement and intellectual curiosity
Strong leadership potential
Active commitment to helping others and to community service
Courage
Collaborative spirit
