Overall, you have solid chances of getting admitted to many of the schools you listed. However, definitely raise your rank this upcoming school year. Other than that, you have really good test scores and strong EC’s. Good luck!

I see that you have a passion for volunteer work and community outreach. That’s absolutely great. But for such schools, you also need ACHIEVEMENT, which I feel is somewhat lacking. I share your passion for volunteer work, but I don’t see uniqueness in YOUR community service (many many people do the same exact things; I’m not sure how much your China essay will stand out). Your school EC’s are also weak (do you have any leadership positions? even if you aren’t passionate about clubs, you still NEED leadership positions!)

Your SAT scores aren’t bad, but certainly aren’t amazing (and if you’re Asian applying to the ivies, retake them and shoot for 2300 or higher). Your GPA and SAT II’s are weak. A 690 and 710 are no good.

On that note…Yale
Princeton - I don’t think so.
Harvard - NO
Columbia - I don’t think so. That’s a school you really need hot EC’s to get into.
UPenn - Stretch, most likely no
Dartmouth - Stretch, most likely no
NYU - You’ll get in
Washington University at st Louis - more likely yes than no
Johns Hopkins - more likely yes than no
Stanford - No
Cornell - more likely yes than no
University of texas at Austin - Yes
Texas AM (safety) - Yes

I think HYPS are probably high reaches. The other Ivies are either low reaches or high matches. Johns Hopkins, Washington, and UT are matches, but since since you are in state UT is a safety. It’s great the you volunteer, but without other really time consuming clubs or jobs 250 hours comes off a little bit like slacking. During the school year your time must be spent almost entirely on schoolwork which can be taken negatively. By the way my friend who grew up in Delaware goes to Westwood, his name is Sam Kalk, do you know him?

haahaha we have similar hooks (luckily ur not applying to brown or they might choose between us ._.)

its good that you like volunteering and you may genuinely love it but a lot of people do it just for college and admins know that. maybe try to find another passion that makes you really stand out? and also improve scores =)

I don’t think you’ll have an issue getting in anywhere, although your EC’s are a little weak. Ivies are always a struggle, but I think you are a competitor (no problem). Good luck.
