Chances and Maybe Some Suggestions?

Hi, I'm currently a junior in Ohio and this is what I'm expecting my college apps to look like. I may retake the ACT, but other than that it most likely won't change a lot.

ACT- 32 (31 E, 30 M, 30 R, 36 S)
Unweighted Cumulative GPA-3.99
Weighted - 4.359
Class Rank - 1/309

SAT IIs:
None yet, but I plan on taking Chemistry and Math II

APs:
This Year:
AP Chemistry
AP U.S. Government
Next Year:
AP Biology
AP English Comp
AP U.S. History
AP Calculus AB

Next year's classes:
Honors Physics
AP Biology
AP English Comp
AP U.S. History
AP Calculus AB
Honors Post War American Studies

ECs:
4 Years of Football (9th-Freshman, 10th-12th Varsity)
4 Years of Varsity Track and Field
NHS officer (11th-12th)
STRIVE (anti-drug program) President (11th-12th)
FCA (Fellowship of the Christian Athlete, 9th-12th)
Student Government Rep (10th)
100+ Hours of Community Service (10th-12th)
Research in farm and industrial run-off with Bowling Green State University (This upcoming summer)
Ohio High School Sports Association Sportsmanship Ambassador (11th-12th)

I'm considering majoring in some type of Engineering (maybe Chemical) at:
Stanford (Huge Reach)
Cornell U (Huge Reach)
UC Berkeley (Reach)
Georgia Tech
University of Michigan
Purdue University
UIUC
Cincinnati (Safety)

Any other college suggestions would be good too.

Thanks for reading.

Anyone? I’ll chance back!

Sounds like you’ve done a lot of your own chancing.

Anybody have any suggestions?

To be completely honest, I don’t think that Cornell is as big of a reach as you think it is. You may want to improve your ACT score, and your extracurriculars are somewhat weak, but taking a look at the Cornell RD Results ( http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/895010-official-cornell-university-class-2014-rd-results.html</a> ) you would seem to be on par with many of the people who were accepted last year.

Thanks, I definitely plan on retaking the ACT to improve my chances, I’m hoping to get around a 34 after I retake it considering that 32 is from the first time I took it in December.

Ivies are always reaches, so although you are competitive, Cornell (and Stanford, even though it isn’t an ivy) will probably be reaches. UC Berkeley is a low reach, I feel. Georgia Tech is the only other school I know about. I would say match, but I don’t know how much being an out of state student will effect you. It could hurt you more than help. Good luck.

Chance me?

Thanks for the input, I’ll chance you back!

Bump…

Anybody else?

GOOD: Rigor/GPA/Rank.
OK: ACT/ECs.

Stanford - No, due to ECs.
Cornell U - Slight Reach
UC Berkeley - Slight Reach
Georgia Tech - In
University of Michigan - In
Purdue University - In
UIUC - In
Cincinnati - In

Thanks! Do you have a thread that you would like me to chance you back in?
