I have already posted my stats on a few boards but now i'm looking not only for chance evaluations but also more suggestions off colleges to apply to. I am interested in studying history or government. Can someone suggest a good match for me?

i am already interested in Georgetown (EA), Harvard (lots of legacy), UVA, BU, UPenn, or Tufts but i know most of these are reaches. What are some schools that would be a good match for me?

With those grades and scores, BU and UVA should be matches. Yes Georgetown and especially Harvard and Penn are reaches, but Georgetown is only a slight reach.

Your biggest problem seems to be the lack of an extremely tough courseload. With this in mind, I'd also pick a school like Michigan or Carnegie Mellon as a backup/safe match.

Good luck.

isn't carnegie mellon a school heavily based in sciences and mathematics? how is their liberal arts program?

You should take a look at Washington University in St. Louis. Great school. Smart, friendly kids. Really nice dorms. Excellent facilities. Faculty and admin really care about the students. Ranked #12 by US News.

By the way, Tufts is a match.

thanks for the help. also, how much is a low class rank in a highly competetive class going to hurt me? my school doesn't exactly do rankings but they do send out some sort of information (deciles or something of the sort). will just making the top 25% be a big problem, especially if many people from my school that are ranked higher apply to the same schools?

also, are you suggesting washington in st. louis because it would be a match? it seems like a pretty big reach to me.

Univ. of VA
Johns Hopkins (great history/IR program)
Univ. of Rochester
Syracuse Univ. (good interdisciplinary)

With a CR+M of 1500, you're close to Wash U's SAT 75th percentile. Also, your SAT2's and AP test scores are strong and your GPA is in the ballpark. Call it a high match.

how much does class rank matter at wash. u in st louis? will only bing in the top 25% hurt my chances a lot?

....bump.....

Washington University in St. Louis. has a 9% acceptance rate so it harder than Gtown!
