Well, I am so nervous about applying to UCB and UCLA. So here I am. Hopefully this will get me some general idea of my acceptance rate. Please look at my stats and see if I have a chance to UCLA and UCB

current school: Santa Monica College
GPA: 3.85
major: Political Science
IGETC: will be done by spring
Pre-reqs: done with all A's
UC units: I will have 85+ units by spring
EC: volunteer at church (I have more than 1000 hours of community service)
TAP certified/ Scholars Program

Alone with my stats, I have some questions. I recently heard that UCB accepts students with 90 transferable units as senior. Is that true for Political Science major? Also, if I do transfer as Junior with 89 units, is it still possible for me to finish undergrad degree in a year? Thanx guys :)

You have a very good chance. I’d say you’re in for sure since you happen to be TAP certified.

Also, assuming you’re referring to 89 semester units, no you will not be able to graduate in a year. Although you may have completed a high number of transferable courses, only up to 70 units will count towards the graduation minimum of 120. You will have your two junior/senior years to complete the remaining 50 units.

Thanks Koreo. That’s what I thought until I saw the UC application. At least for Berkeley, there is an option where you can transfer as a senior (90units). So I am little confused. I guess you cannot transfer as senior then?
