Hey,
So I am currently a high school senior in Bergen Country, NJ. I am looking to go into nursing, and TCNJ and Rutgers are two of my top choices, I am looking specifically at the New Brunswick Camps and the Newark Campus for Rutgers. I should also note that I have a sibling that attends the New Brunswick campus. I know that nursing is very competitive in these schools and I was hoping you guys could give me your input on my chances getting admitted. I have a SAT score of 1300, 670 on Math and 620 on English. I currently have a weighed GPA of a 4.373 and I am ranked 3rd out of 200 students. I have taken 4 AP classes my junior year, along with 2 honor classes (AP Stat, AP US History, AP Language and Composition, AP Physics, Pre-Calc Honors, and Band Honors). This year I am taking 4 AP classes and 1 honor class (AP Literature, AP Biology, AP Calc, AP Comparative Government, and Psychology Honors). My extracurriculars include Culture Club, Mock Trial, National Honors Society (Corresponding Secretary), World Language Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, and Band. I volunteer at various summer camps and in the emergency room at a local hospital. I play Volleyball on the JV team, I am Vice President of the Student Government Association, and I am a section leader in the band. I was also a NJ Boys State Delegate. Any input and college recommendations with good nursing programs are greatly appreciated, thank you!
Penn State and Pitt have very good direct entry programs.
Check out Emory - we are known for the sciences and have a nursing program.
Hey @Sophley thank you for the recommendations, I’ll definitely look into them!
Hey @TheTennisNinja Emory is extremely selective, do you think I could get admitted?
University of Washington
@eric4532 I do know that Emory seems to be less sensitive to test scores compared to its peers so you might have a chance (though it will be slim).
SUNY Plattsburgh has an excellent direct entry nursing program. My D’s best friend from school, from NJ, has worked consistently at great nursing jobs (she’s been a travel nurse) since graduation from Plattsburgh.
