This Autumn I'm going to take the Literature and Math II SAT IIs and I am considering retaking the SAT I to improve my Critical Reading and Writing scores. Does anyone have any suggestions for improving my application and if I should apply during the Early Decision or Regular Decision periods?

Thanks so much.

I wouldn't worry too much about your SAT I scores... the median at Wes for the class fo 2011 was 2150 I believe, and your 2220 is, obviously, above that... as for regular or early decision, that is up to you. You have to make that choice that Wes is your #1 and that you will attend if accepted. your EC's are fine. you have just as good a shot as anybody. make sure you convey a passion about something, like music. wes admissions likes passionate, determined people apparently

Thanks. Just to clarify, the only mediums through which I can convey my passion(s) to the admissions officer/board are my essay and interview, right?

I think you'd have a good shot RD, if you decide to go that route, and obviously you'd be fine ED. As smartalic said, make sure it's what you want and that $$$ isn't a determining factor (assuming it's not if you're at a private high school). Your test scores will serve their purpose by indicating how difficult your school is and thereby verifying your GPA's strength. Good luck.

Thank you.

The median SAT for class of 2011 was 2250. But Weslayan admittance is not based on a simple formula, students are not only very smart but also quirky.
It is an exraordinary university!

2250 is way too high. That's more like a 750 on each section when I'm quite sure it was 710/710/720. We're not full of prestige whores like those other universities in the vicinity ;)

opps. you are correct it is 2150. However I know people who scored 2250 and did not get in and several students who scored below 1900 and are in the class of 2011. They are however amazing , well rounded gifted students so Wes is not a cookie cutter school when it comes to admittance. As another poster above stated , passion and liberal politics with a history of community service helps.

Exactly. Wes is definitely a school willing to take the student that is a better fit over the student with the best stats.
