I applied to Delaware in early October and I'm soo nervous because it's my top choice
- female from MA
- 3.8 GPA at a very competitive high school
- all a's and b+'s consistently since freshman year, never a C
-SATs: 630 CR, 780 writing, 670 math
-extracirriculars: tennis, political club at school, part time job
- still all a's and b's first term of senior year, including an A in AP psychology
- I expressed that UD was my first choice on the application supplement and also sent admissions an email expressing why I love the school
- applied for business as my first choice major, I have all a's in math if that helps

How are my chances? And when will the decisions be posted on MyBlueHen? I've been checking my account everyday but it has said "application under review" for weeks now. Do you think it will be before the holidays?
Thanks and good luck to everyone else :)

I think you have a decent chance, but of course not guaranteed. My son is also applying but with slightly lower stats, but still similar (3.6 GPA, mid 600’s on math and reading SAT, 720 writing).

Being from MA you should also apply to UMass Amherst, which has an excellent (and very selective) business program. My son applied early action there and was just accepted this week to the business school. If he gets into UD, it may be hard to justify the out of state tuition now that he has the option of UMass at in-state tuition. Luckliy for me, he likes both UMass and UD and wouldn’t mind attending UMass if it comes down to tuition costs.

I agree with uriman. IMHO your chances are reasonably good. UD states that an admission decision can be expected 8-12 weeks once an applicant’s application is identified as being complete. So you need to go back in time to the date your application was identified as being complete and then add 8-12 weeks. This is the first year UD is using a rolling admission procedure so I suspect they are “working out the bugs” in the new system. I have not heard of any OOS acceptances thus far this year. But I suspect we will begin to hear very soon. Hopefully this will occur before the holidays, but they are approaching quickly and so far nothing as far as I am aware of. It certainly would be a nice Xmas present to receive, especially if UD is an applicant’s first choice. Keep checking your UD portal. Good luck.

I applied early October to, October 10th, and they never “processed my application” until December 1st. It’s really annoying so now I have to wait even longer. I’d call and find out when your application was processed, they’re very nice about it if you’d like too.

NYMom3kids: Do you mean her common app was complete Sept 9th? I don’t think UD considered any apps “complete” on mybluehen until early Nov. Any idea why you received a decision so early?

Sorry, what I meant was that the Common App shows that she submitted the app and writing supplement by that date. I don’t remember when Blue Hen said her app was complete on their end.

Hi all. My daughter’s portal reads “Status: Official notification via mail.” Is this what all of yours say? Because if NYMom’s daughter found out online, does this mean my daughter is rejected?

When she logged on to My Blue Hen Home it says her name and “…congratulations on your admission to the University of Delaware!” as well as a few paragraphs. Also, on the right hand column when you scroll down past My Checklist, it gives the Status and Decision under “My Application.”

Most schools seem to give both online and “official” notification by snail mail. Hoping for the best for your daughter, francesca133!

Wow NYMom, your D’s common app was submitted early (9/9). Perhaps the admissions office is using the submitted date as the basis for the posting of decisions?

Uriman, you may be right as I haven’t seen any chatter on CC about Delaware admissions. My D heard someone had gotten in so she asked me to look online for her as she is out tonight. She started her Common App in mid/late August and had several applications submitted about a week or so later. So glad she did that because she would have had a very tough time juggling apps and schoolwork if she had waited. Good luck to all!

francessca133: Has it always said that? Ours said that when he first applied and then changed to “under review…” after it said all documents have been received and the application is complete.
