Thanks in advance...jw if I should apply. I'm thinking but I don't know if it will be a COMPLETE waste of $70

Just so you know... I kind of applied to Yale on a whim, I thought I had no chance whatsoever (people on this board came to the conclusion that it was a huge reach for me, too).

But I got in. I also got in to the ten other schools I applied to, so I guess I did something right.

Basically, you CANNOT GO BY THIS BOARD!

They were overwhelmingly wrong in my case, and while they might be accurate sometimes, you really just have to ask yourself how badly you want Yale. I think I got in because once I learned more about it, I feel in love with it, and that came across in both of my interviews.

The biggest thing I can tell you is to be HONEST. Be overwhelmingly honest, especially in your essays. I think my personality came through very strongly and that that helped me greatly.

Best of luck, and DO NOT spend so much time on these boards!! It drove my absolutely insane this past year and I wish I hadn't ever come here at all, haha.

Also, remember that there is a big difference between your chance of getting into one particular highly selective school, and your chance of getting into one of a group of highly selective schools. While your academic stats may not seem particularly competitive for any one of them, there may be something in your ECs, essays, or background that will make you a fit with one or more of the schools.
