Glad to hear you’re interested in continuing the family tradition of attending W&M. If you’re a legacy (child of someone who attended W&M) you will be considered a legacy which is of course a plus factor.

The courses you’ve taken sound very rigorous which is great. If they included calculus, the fourth level of a foreign language, and four years of science you certainly will have met and exceeded our expectations as far as course selection.

Sounds like you’re just outside the top 10% (80% of the students we admit graduate in the top 10%) so send your first semester grades. Given how many APs you’re taking, if your grades are great that would hopefully bump you into the top 10% which would be great.

Sounds like you keep busy outside of class. Please take the time (maybe through the additional information portion of the Common App) to explain the science research program with which you’ve been involved and your role in publishing the journal article.

Also, I assume you sent your art portfolio to our art faculty as a fine arts submission. If they like what they see that could certainly help distinguish you in our review process.

Finally, assuming you told us about your unique heritage in your application we will also take that into consideration as we try to build a diverse class.
