My daughter wants to apply as a freshman next year. Would she have a better chance to get in for summer or spring session? She has good grades but not great. She's taken a few honor classes and only 1 AP this year. She is not a great test taker but is retaking the ACT this month after 6 months of tutoring. She has 300 + volunteer hours and active in several clubs. She also has ADD and needs to take medication but just loved UF when she toured it earlier this year. She is also applying at FSU, UCF and FIU.

UF considers all the freshman applicant in one pool. They don’t segregate those who apply Summer, Spring, and I don’t even think you can specify Spring. Once they decide who to admit, they will put the most qualified applicants in Fall, then they fill Summer, and lastly Spring.

Once admission decisions are made and they tell you what semester you’re accepted to, there may be some room to shift entry semesters, depending on if there is room in the preferred semester.

My daughter was accepted for Spring 2010, then petitioned for Summer 2009 and was granted the change.

Good luck to your daughter!
