National Honor Society (NHS) is overrated nowadays. I remember going to a preview of either FSU, UF, or out-of-state ones, and they practically said they didn’t care about it. The speaker was like “Everyone in the NHS, raise your hand!” Almost all raised their hands, and she went “Well, I don’t care!” Just for your information, I used to think NHS was much better than my other “small” extracurricular activities. Now that I’m in college, I know that not everyone plays badminton, participates in Asian or Robotics club. If you have other activities that you do either at home with friends or at your local community, you should definitely talk about it. Try not to get mixed up with the majority of applicants :)

When applying to FSU, if you have an sat score that has a very high subscore (above your act scores) then you should send it. FSU will take components of both tests and meld them together to get the best results . For example is you have a 650 in math on the sat and a 25 on the act, but all your other #'s on the act is higher, they will look at the sat math score. Just a thought.

And yes I agree, we went up to see fsu this summer and I got a feeling that the essay and the extracurriculars dont matter much to them. Its mostly about scores and gpa. But that being said, I would still send resume and write a good essay because it shows you did it. Thats my 2 cents for whatever its worth
