Chances & Are these good colleges for me?

First off, BE HONEST and it'd be great if you are already in college/have a lot of experience with these things.

My STATS

GPA: 3.9 freshman, 4.33 soph, 5.0 junior = don't know total [all these are obviously weighted GPAs]

Class rank: 2/500~

SAT I: 2260: 73 V, 74/75 M, 79 W
got 222 on PSAT, at least COmmended, possibly semifinalist/finalist for scholarships

SAT IIs: 2400: Math II, US History, Chem & a lowly 690 in Bio (taken first, in soph year, back when i was stupid)

AP's (AP Scholar w/ Distinction):
5's - Chem, Euro, Eng Lang, Environ Sci, Physics B
4's - French Lang & Us. history <-- doesn't make sense, cuz i got an 800 in USH

EC's <-- my weakest point

Clubs:
-Red Cross, CSF for 3 years
-key Club freshman year

Sports:
-track 9th-10th
-tennis: 9th on jv, 10th on var, 11th quit cuz i'm dumb, 12th maybe rejoin?

Other stuff:
-volunteer for 4 years straight: library, tutoring a lot for pay too, for clubs
-Asian American Donors Program, worked in their offices last summer, perhaps continuing
-2 summers before this one, took science courses at community colleges, and volunteered
-this summer: worked at Stanford inside a immunology lab with a professor, under the guidance of graduate students on their new project.. got $9/hour, worked 40 hr/wk, 9 wks total

Not sure if these can be considered hooks:
-came to U.S. when i was 8, didn't know a word of english
-my parents don't know how to speak english very well, but both got masters degrees in china
-research?

OTHER STUFF: ASIAN FEMALE (bad, i know... but females get in MIT & Caltech more easily than males :D)

Colleges i'm thinking (or dreaming) of:

definitely to:
-UC's (i'm californian): UCB, UCLA, UCD for safety (if my essays are solid, these shouldn't be too hard, knowing my school's history)
-Stanford b/c i worked there, prof willing to write rec
-Cornell (high acceptance rate among ivies haha)
-MIT (some people think i have a chance......cuz im a girl)
-johns hopkins (i really want to know my chances on this one)
-Rice (they for some reason waived my application fee, so applying no matter what)

MORE reaches to:
-duke
-upenn
-columbia
-caltech
-harvard lol

What do you think? Am I wasting my money on these colleges?

If this doesn't seem like enough information, i will happily provide more :)

bump

bump

wow nobody wants to chance me, how sad

I’m desperate for any advice. :(

Im no expert but i live in texas and your sat and rank look good enough to get into rice based on people i know.

Thanks! Rice is a good school, but I don’t know much about it besides the fact that it’s in Texas and it’s ranked slightly higher than UCBerkeley lol

firstly, i’d like to congratulate you on your great stats.

however, i do agree that you ECs are weak. i would say most of the top ivies you mentioned are reaches (stanford, columbia, cornell, harvard) primarily because there are thousands of applicants with similar scores as you.

however, you should still try for all these colleges. try, if possible, to emphasise your ECs or summer activities in your application, especially the research you did at Stanford. that could be a strong point for you.

the places where you have the most chances, i think, are: UCs, brown, johns hopkins, and rice.

good luck!

I thought Johns Hopkins’ med school is insanely good/hard to get into though.

i think you’re into jhu personally. furthermore i think you can get/have got rice, those uc’s, duke, and MIT- yes, b/c they don’t have many females there too. lol

chance me!! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/559685-i-got-owned-pwnd-even.html</a></p>

LOL thanks XD It’s weird how none of you mentioned Cornell - i actually know saludictorian last year with similiar stats as me and got in with good grades alone.

I had no idea Duke doesn’t have many females either. I just read that in 2007, Duke accepted 2% of 5500 applicants into its school of medicine (100 spots)… that really discourages me from applying there.

Good chances at UC’s. Definitely.

good stats, but in many cases a lot of these colleges look for something outstanding, something that makes you stick out.

place emphasis on one of those activities and i think you’re good to go

many are reaches but you never know, can’t get in if you don’t apply right?
