Chances as a transfer to SESP

Hi everyone, I’m applying to transfer to Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy for fall 2017 as a sophomore. I just finished my first semester of freshman year at Villanova University. I want to double major in Social policy and Learning Sciences with an adjunct international relations.

Highschool:
GPA: 4.23
ACT: 31
Rank: top 5% 23/365
-Many APs, extracurriculars, typical high school stuff, competitive USA gymnast

College:
GPA: 3.74 - All A’s and A-s
Honors Program- took 3 Honors classes this semester
Good rec
Great essays

I think my essays and my extracurriculars show my passion for SESP. These are the 10 extracurriculars I put down for the common app.

  • Tutoring grade school children in marginalized area, specficically bonded and worked with a boy for two years, wrote my essay about him, really what started my passion
  • Ruibal Challenge Volunteer- A program at my current university, I work with kids in the inner city once a week at an after school program
  • Rays of Sunshine Volunteer- another program at school, working with kids in Philly with reading and math skills twice a week
  • Gymnastics- I was a USAG level 9 gymnast, state and regional multiple qualifier, plan on joining the Northwestern Gymnastics Club team if I get accepted. Gymnastics was a big part of my life and really structured me
  • Professional Fundraiser for the Villanova Annual Fund- I work at the call center of my school raising money by contacting alumni and parents. Helped raise over 50,000 -Novadance Sidekick- sidekick to children cancer heros of the B+ foundation. organize dance related events and fundraise, culminates in a dance marathon at the end of the year -Wildcat Focus Mentor- mentored freshman in a classroom setting one period a day for 2 years in highschool. lead classroom discussions and activites
  • Camp Counselor- Nature camp counselor over the summer
  • Intern for the Rob Portman Senate Campaign
  • French Club VP

A few questions if anyone is able to answer: Northwestern is the only school im applying to, in the common app transfer essay should I directly focus on Northwestern or just keep in general? Also, I have one solid reccomendation letter, the requirement is 1 but 3 are optional. Would it be better if I got 1 more?

Thanks!!
