<p>I am attempting to transfer to UNC-Chapel Hill in the fall of this year as an English major with a minor in Creative Writing and possibly in Philosophy as well. My application is already complete. I graduated HS in 2005; I took my SAT in late 2004, and scored a 1220 (remember that this was by the old rubric, when there was only a Math and a Reading score). I took a couple years off between high school and college (my family moved, so I told myself I would establish residency in NC before going to school; I realize now that this was just a stall tactic), but I've always had a full-time job in that span. I started attending community college in Summer of 2008. This current semester (Spring 2010) is my third semester (I again took a year off from school because I had to relocate for my Job from Jacksonville, NC to Raleigh, NC) at community college. I have a 4.0 GPA in community college; the courses I have completed are as follows: Expository Writing, Argument-Based Research, American History I and II, Intro to Psychology, Intro to New Testament, Music Appreciation I, and Intro to Computer Science. I am currently enrolled in Precalculus Algebra, American Lit (1850-present), Intro to Ethics, Intro to Geology, and American Government I. All these things considered, how would you guys rate my chances of getting accepted into UNC-Chapel Hill as a transfer student? Thanks :)</p>

<p>Well in your case, you took some time off to “discover yourself” and then you went back to school with some real world experience; you have done well back in school as well. I think admissions committees such as the one at UNC are looking for a diverse transfer class that brings a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and life stories. Yours is a unique one.</p>

I’m a nursing major at ECU with a 4.0 GPA from 3 semesters. I was just accepted to the ECU nursing program, which is really competitive itself. However, I have applied to UNC Chapel Hill because I enjoy the area better and I would like to apply to their nursing program. For now, however, I have applied as an undergraduate/undecided junior for fall 2010. My high school GPA was 3.8-3.9 and my SATs were in the 1700s. Chances? I’m also an out of state student from CA.</p>
<p>So I am currently a sophomore in Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. I have a 3.75 GPA, 58 credits already (74 by the end of this semester). HS gpa is around 3.9. I am an international student. Finance Director in one student org and members in various other organizations. I am also doing some volunteer. Intern last summer.</p>

What are my chances?</p>
<p>Both of you guys have a good chance. I also go to ECU and applied for next semester but I think the nursing application process is different from the school of arts and sciences, which is where econ is. Did either of you apply last year?</p>
<p>Hey. I’m a freshman at NC State. My college GPA my first semester was a 4.24 (A+'s count for more). My HS GPA was around 3.9. I got a 1890 on my SAT. I believe my essays are solid, and I have a decent amount of extra-curriculars. What do you think my chances are??</p>
<p>im also at NC State, i got a 3.5 gpa this semester (my first). i have a ton of credits (i think 52 at the end of my second semester). my high school gpa was a 4.2 weighted, taking several ap courses which i made 3s or better in all. my sat scores were math-690 reading-640 writing-550 I was a recruited athlete out of high school but decided to take academics ahead of sports. i was denied last year but what do you think my chances are this year? i hope better, i know its comin up soon.</p>
<p>Freshman at NYU Stern, 16 credits at the time of application (32 by the end of the year) with a 3.175 (I know, it’s bad) first semester college GPA. My HS GPA was 4.0, valedictorian. No AP/honors courses, my school didn’t offer them. I sent in my ACT scores, which was a 33 composite. College ECs consist of part-time jobs, and that’s it. HS ECs are fairly basic, nothing outstanding, a couple leadership positions. I think my essay was strong, I didn’t send in recommendations because I didn’t think my college professors knew me well enough.</p>
<p>Yeah jwbryan when I was applying I saw that 3.44 average stat which made me feel really confident but then I’ve been reading some of these threads and people are way more qualified than what the transfer stats indicate… I’m just worried about my high school records screwing me over because senior year I did nothing… I think you have a very good shot too especially with your high school GPA and athletics.</p>
