This winter... participating in an humanitarian aid effort in Cambodia where I will be teaching english/aiding the village in their economy.

Will get excellent recs from professors/advisors.

Will not be applying for financial aid.

From NY.

your stats, college especially, are excellent! your GPA is high, your ECs are varied and impressive... and since you will be applying as a junior transfer, your high school info (and probably SAT scores... but i'm just guessing that) won't matter as much. vassar notoriously does not accept too many transfers, but i think you have excellent chances, honestly!!

also - since, as i'm sure you know, vassar is NOT need-blind with transfers, the fact that you aren't applying for aid will definitely help you!

i wish you the best of luck! i'm transferring there this fall (in less than one week now, actually), so maybe i will see you there in fall 07! :D if you have any questions, let me know!

ahhhhh i love you so much right now lol.

i heard the transfer spots for vassar are pretty hard... so I'm scared.

does it help that I'm a guy? since there are a lot more girls at vassar than guys.

my family really really wants me to go to vassar, more so than cornell or any other school besides brown... since I live like 40 mins away from Vassar. lol

don't be scared, confidence is key :)

i don't really know for sure, but i would guess that being a guy would work in your favor since there are more girls than guys!

you're also looking into brown? brown was actually my top choice the first time around (for freshman year) but they wouldn't give me enough money, so i had to go to a school that gave me lots of merit money. obviously that didn't work out ;) i was going to apply to brown again (as a transfer), but after much thought and consideration i realized that vassar, more so than brown, really has what i am looking for (small LAC, self-contained campus, etc), plus it is only about an hour away from home, which is good. though i didn't apply to brown the second time around (i applied only to vassar), i still love brown, it's awesome!! i don't know too much about cornell, but i've heard wonderful things about it! good luck in applying to all these places (and more, if you do)! if you have any more questions, feel free to ask me!

Vassar? Over Cornell? You must be joking! (Obviously I am...)
Best of luck applying.

yes. vassar over cornell. I think would work better in a smaller school rather than get lost in the crowds :)
