Hi I applied ED to the Williams Class of 2019 and was wondering what you think my odds are.

SAT- 2260 (800 CR, 780 Math, 680 W)
SAT2- 780 Math II, 710 Lit

Weighted GPA (out of a theoretical all AP 5 maximum) 4.3 (I know it's low)
I will have taken 13 AP courses at the end of this year. School is an extremely competitive private school.

Extracurricular/Volunteer:
Math tutor for ~3 hrs per week
Have served as VP of my local BBYO youth group for the past 3 years.

Clubs:
President of Academic Team (Trivia)- 4 years
Statistics Division rep for Mu Alpha Theta- 4 years
Academic World Quest- 4 years
Programming Club- 2 years
Harvard Model UN- 1 year

Athletics:
6 time Swimming Varsity letters. Took 3rd,6th,6th, and 16th at the state meet this past fall. Application is supported by the coach, but it is D3 so I don't know how much influence it has.

Very Strong Essays and Teachers Recs

Did the coach mention a slot or a tip?

Coach said he wrote a letter of recommendation to admissions and “Fully supports my application”

Did the coach ask you to apply ED? Did you do an Overnight? Have you spoken to the coach since the ED1 deadline? I know it is crazy hard to wait, but it is only a few more days. And this stuff is hard to tell – you may be just fine, but you won’t know until you know (you know). And there isn’t much you can do now anyways…just keep telling yourself, it will work out the way it is supposed to. And it will…

I know it’s so close, quite nerve wracking at this point. I did apply ED and did take a recruiting trip earlier in the fall. I have communicated with the coaches, but only to update them with times at this point. Thanks for the help

If the swim team really wants you, that GPA won’t hurt you and the rest of your app is pretty solid. It all hinges on how much they think you’ll help the swim team.

As you attend an “extremely competitive private school,” speak with your college counselor there. S/he might be able to address your question, especially if s/he spoke directly with admissions.

The independent schools with name recognition (for lack of a better term) can have a nuanced understanding of the process.

Good Luck & Go Ephs!
