<p>So I've been lurking around here for sometime, so I've finally decided to post. I really need to get a grasp of my chances to get into Vassar, so be brutal if need be.
I currently attend Community College and I have a 4.0 with 32 credits.
My ACT score is 32
I graduated high school a semester early--I took 12 classes in one semester--because of personal reasons. My high school gpa was 3.2 weighted 2.9 unweighted. The first two years I totally screwed up, my junior year I had all A's and B's with one C. My senior year I made all A's. I always had Honors or AP classes except for my senior year when I took all college classes.
My time in high school I went through various personal struggles coupled with family issues, as a result I changed high schools three times and changed households three times.
When I was able to participate in EC's I did speech and debate, french club, invisible children's unit, for a brief period I was secretary of the mathletes, and I held a summer internship at a local magazine, along with 100+ hours of community service.
I've had one job, and after 3 months decided I was better off being a full time student.
My home life was very demanding and caged in and extremely limited due to financial difficulties. And for the past year I've been playing 'mom' to my nephew, so it's taken a significant portion of my time.
I have excellent character letters and teacher recommendations.
My essay's are pretty stellar if I do say so.
I'm a URM--African American Female.
And I come from a small suburban Texas town.
So what do you think my chances are?</p>
<p>Also I've always been the black sheep in my family and my friends. I'm very liberal, I love learning and exploring and adventures, but formal structure is really the kicker for me. My top choice is Vassar because I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about it, and it seems like Vassar is the place where a person can have a vigorous learning experience, yet not be extremely competitive. Am I right in my assumption? Also I can be very shy and I was wondering if that would be a great hindrance if I did go to Vassar? </p>
