Chances as transfer?

STATS-

High School GPA:2.0

School:Pennsylvania Community College

GPA: Will have a 3.7GPA by the end of this semester (50 credits). GPA would be 3.8ish without my one remedial math class. Will transfer with 65ish credits.

Intended major: Political Science/Government

EC since high school: Worked on 2 political campaigns, founder of political blog turned website (make revenue via ads), interned at the bar association of Baltimore City, work part-time, taught private guitar lessons, regular SPCA volunteering, Phi Theta Kappa member.

Hooks: Hispanic-Puerto Rican, first-generation college student, male(?)

High school gpa doesn’t matter.
You’re at a disadvantage simply because you don’t go to a california cc and first priority is given to them. Also, being male is not a hook haha

Thanks for the input…I know being from PA probably kills my chances :/

It lowers your chances, but I wouldn’t say it kills them. Berkeley’s generally unpredictable when it comes to admissions, especially for out of state. Honestly, I don’t think anyone here knows how to chance OoS… just have to try it and see.

Also, I know you’re out of state, but try and complete your major’s pre-reqs. Take a look at assist.org for an idea of what’s expected, though you’ll have to guess at the articulations.

And I’d imagine you’ve figured this out already, but OoS tuition here is really expensive… I think an extra $20,000 a year ontop of instate? Just something to keep in mind when applying, since not everyone notices the cost at first.
