Austin is sort of a "back-up", but I definitely wouldn't mind going there. It's a great school and I'll meet plenty of old HS friends who'll probably end up going. What would make it even nicer, though, is if I could get a free ride.

Opinions/Outlook?

They don’t do merit scholarships like that. You can get your freshman year tuition paid if you graduate ranked #1. Other than that, hope for outside or school specific scholarships (which really don’t exist Freshman year).

I’d say 0% chance based on merit, but a really high chance if your EFC is on the low side. That said, you likely won’t get much money anywhere unless your EFC is on the low side, and you likely won’t be able to find a better program for cheaper or even close to the same price.

I didn’t rule out UT just because it’s the state u, but I know a lot of people who did. It’s a shame because McCombs and Cockrell are top 10 schools and there are more top 10 majors here than any other university and several #1 programs, like accounting.

My family is also “~100k/year gross” and got nothing for financial aid. My EFC was around 35k, so the best I managed was a $5500 unsubsidized Stafford loan.

There are Dedman scholarships. Four years $13,000+

You’ll get a nice scholarship, but I doubt you’ll get a full ride. I was a Plan II Honors major and was surrounded by kids who had much better stats than you and they didn’t get full rides.
