I am a White female.

Also, a 730 on the SATII Literature and I intend to take the SATII Spanish

Most likely rejection at Vandy

how about EDII Colgate?

Why are you stating math as “projected”? Did you not fare well in math on your first SAT sitting in math?

Colgate is a slightly more selective school than Vandy while their range/average SAT scores for Freshman applicants are very similar to one another. Your EC’s are somewhat lacking however your landing a job at the Gap is impressive. (I had to do a follow up post since my original one timed out on me.) I feel your w GPA combined with your current SAT score, whatever that real score may be, makes both schools a slight reach for you. Good luck though!

I am stating math as “projected” because I am retaking the SAT. I already got the cr and writing scores, so those are real. I am pretty confident I will get a 650 in math. Math is not my strength but I have been studying thoroughly.
I thought Colgate was a bit less selective. Their GPA is lower (3.7) and their SAT scores were something like 640-720 reading, which makes me way above average, and 640-710 math, which makes me right in the middle. With early decision their acceptance rate goes from 30 or something to 57 percent.
My tour guide got in regular decision with a 650 math and 720 reading (they don’t count writing).

Selecivity to me is based on the percentage of applicants who get in. Colgate has a slightly lower percentage of applicants who get accepted than does Vandy, even though Vandy is a slightly more academic school than Colgate.

When you do your stats posting, it is much more “straigtforward” to list all your actual scores and then to simply say that you are retaking. I am sorry if I am not giving you the answer you want to hear, nevertheless that’s my opinion and that’s what you basically are asking for when you post to a “Chances” thread.

I beg your pardon jshain. I was asking for your opinion on the scores I am going to get–that’s why I said “projected.” If I wanted to I could have just said 650 was my current score–the point is it doesn’t matter. I just want to know my chances if 650 is my score. If I wanted your opinion on my current scores I would have posted them. Its not a matter of not getting “the answer I wanted to hear.” I wouldn’t bother posting if I just wanted false hopes.
P.S. Colgate is NOT more selective Early Decision (which is what I was asking about)–Vanderbilt’s early decision percentage is 42%. Colgate’s is 57%. Even I, with my lowly score, can do that math.
Thanks.

and 640-710 math, which makes me right in the middle.

onebluegoldfish, I stand corrected on the early decision stat for Colgate. You are absolutely correct in that regard. I was basing it off of RD not ED. At least acknowledge that if you hypothetically get a 650 in math and the math range at Colgate is between 640 to 710, as you stated, that is NOT the middle…

you’re right about colgate vs. vandy selectivity for RD definitely. yes, 650 is not in the middle of the middle 50%, but it does fall in the given range is what I mean.

Okay onebluegoldfish, I’m glad we’ve established that I can NOT do simple reading and your math needs a little work… Good luck to you!

you two are both of bunch of losers :0…

Rejection at Vandy. Acceptance at Colgate.
