Chances at a transfer to CSULB? (English: Creative Writing)

Good afternoon all!

Here's the scoop:

I have a 3.3 Community College GPA and have completed my GE requirements for CSULB. I do understand that my GPA isn't one of the best (I previously had a 3.5 my first semester, however due to my suddenly busy life and illness, it quickly fell to a 3.3), however since English: Creative Writing is not an impacted major, I was curious if I still stood a decent chance.

I live in Southern California (the desert, to be precise), however I plan to move to Long Beach by the end of this year, which is another reason why CSULB is at the top of my list.

I have taken every Honors English class available at my Community College.

Would having an A.A. better my chances instead of just having the units?

Perhaps there are other Universities which offer a similar or better program for this major that you can suggest? Please keep my GPA in mind!

Many thanks,
Amber

I suppose that I should also include my extracurricular activities, even though I believe that CSU’s don’t necessarily care about those.

-Worked on my grandparent’s farm for 3 years (during college)
-Volunteer Animal Shelter Aide/Foster Parent (50 hours)
-Volunteer High School Teacher’s Aide (roughly 60 hours)
-Volunteer tutor (35 hours)

It doesn’t add up to be nearly as much as what other students have, but I did it for personal reasons, not to get into a University. :)

Anyone have any idea? I know that it is a CSU, but CSULB is becoming more and more competitive (at least, so I thought).
