<p>This summer I took two undergraduate courses at Boston Colleges, and got an A in one of them, and an A- in the other, for a GPA of 3.835. One of my professors wrote me a recommendation.</p>
<p>My volunteer work encompasses my summers of my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, during which I volunteered at my town's recreation office its summer program for kids (157.5 hours).
I've also volunteered at my school system's Future Scientists and Engineers of America (FSEA) program at the middle school during my sophomore year, but did not continue because the teacher running the program retired (15 hours).</p>
<p>My only "award" is perfect attendance in my sophomore year.</p>
<p>My biggest extracurricular is the Concert/Marching band. The time committment is roughly 10 hours a week during marching season and 5 during concert season. I have been the drum major since my junior year, which is a very big leadership position for which I had to audition. I have also been the alto sax section leader since my junior year.
In addition to that, I have been a member of my school's jazz band since junior year. This year I am the alto sax first chair which is very demanding in terms of playing skill required.
Rounding off my band extracurriculars is my membership in my school's pep band, in which I was a founding member last year. </p>
<p>I've also been a member of my school's academic decathlon since my sophomore year, and, though I haven't won any awards (but I've come close!), I consistently place first on my team in the regional competitions each year.</p>
<p>I have been a member of the school's chess club since my sophomore year, and the president for my junior and senior years.</p>
<p>Lastly, I've been a mentor for freshmen during my junior and senior years.</p>
<p>My recommendations were excellent, and my essay was creative, to say the least. I wrote about Gilmore Girls.</p>
