I’m going to be a senior in just a couple of days and I’m weighing my college options. I want to be a doctor so I’m interested in BU’s Accelerated Medicine program. I understand that it’s VERY competitive, so I know that my chances are low but here’s my BASIC statics.

SAT: 2180 [re-take in Oct.]
Haven’t taken any SAT II’s yet so I’m taking them in November…I’m taking Chemistry, Math 2, and I haven’t decided on a third SAT II
GPA: ~96 UW, ~99 W (or more, I’m not sure how the weighting works at my school)
Rank: don’t know yet, definitely 10% if not more
APs: 10 by the end of senior year; got 5 on AP Chem (which I think BU likes) and taking AP Calc this year

I’m decently involved in clubs and I’ve had 5-7 leadership positions through various clubs and activities I’ve taken on.

No major awards besides for AP Scholar and minor school ones.

I realize that research experience and community service are a big part of the whole admissions process. All I have is 235+ hours of service at a local hospital, some service at my church and library…and that’s it. I applied for some summer lab programs but didn’t get accepted.

So my question is…without any outside lab/research/medical internship experience, should I bother to apply for this program? Please be honest; it’ll only help me prioritize.

Thanks!
