heyy i just wanted to kno my chances of getting into the accelerated med program-- (really interested into it)—

soph- took most vigorous courses possible including science research & ap bio–around 97/98

got 5 on ap bio exam

next yr-most vigorous possible including ap chem & ap us history & prob same clubs (but maybe minus speech & debate and add newspaper??)

volunteer work is gonna equal 100+ hours plus another year (at a different hospital)

wat should i work on? sat score-would 1950 be enough or more?? sat II scores??

the accelerated med program is incredibly difficult to get into, i think about 20 people get in each year. i dont know about the new sat scale with the writing, but most kids in accelerated med could have gone to ivy league schools and had like at least 1400's on their sat's. so maybe up your stats and get involved in medical and hospital work for volunteering. again, i know a few people in the 7 year med and this is what i know about them, i could be wrong but i think that you basically need really high stats and lots of ecs and some experience in the medical field.

sorry i just noticed that you actually do volunteer at a hospital, my bad

i would recommend you up your scores... a lot. Most of the kids getting into the medical program have 2200+ scores usually (many are probably near 2300 or +)... the ap scores are going to help & it is crucial to show a lot of interest in the medical field. I myself believe that volunteering at a hospital is very common these days (unless your volunteering involves something special outside of the normal patient transfers and giftshop management and file sorting) so it will be nice to do something special for ec's related to medical field. Your grades seem nice though. Just keep up the good work, raise the score, and get a good app in; you'll then probably get an interview offer.
