Chances at Acceptance?

UC GPA 3.8
SAT1 1830
SAT2 Bio-580 US History 550
Over 100 hours of community service+many other achievements.
Multiple AP classes.

I'm quite worried because I have low test scores, but I have friends who were just accepted to UCSD with a 4.0 but a 1600 on the SAT's.

Help anybody? It would be greatly appreciated!

bump. bump. bump.

Sorry, but I think it’ll be a slight reach for you esp. this year. You might have gotten in with just the 1830, but you’re SATII’s and the GPA are going to sink you. Community service will help, but not that much. Maybe you’ll get waitlisted. :(

I agree with lunallion on this :(. Although your gpa is below avg and SAT II is also pretty below average, you may have a chance since it isnt that far off their avg. SAT I is right at their average and iono how the amount of the AP classes will help u. This year is so unpredictable, because I got in UCSD with lower GPA but higher SAT <.<.

I agree with the above comments. It’s just a bit of a reach. If you’d had 600-800s on your SAT2s then i’d call it a match. How did you do on AP exams? Maybe some high scores there will help you out?

sorry bud
but the chances, especially with low SAT II scores look pretty low
but hey you never know so just wait till results come out :)

they dont even look at sat 2 scores that much. Since when do people care about them-nobody says “oh, I didnt get in because of my sat 2 scores”.
I think youre still a reach, not that much tho-and its not because of your subj. test scores

i have taken 4 AP’s and recieved 4’s on each of them.

I also attend the second best public school in the united states, but I’m not sure if UCSB will look into that…

I also wrote two damn good essays…but I still feel its a reach. Thanks for the feedback guys!

(As well as a four Year Captain of a Varsity Sports team)

so i’ve seen people saying that anything under a 4.0 is below average but isn’t a 4.0 like perfect? my school doesn’t grade with a US system so this confuses me lol & how do people get over a 4.0?

@Kwonlita- UCs offer extra points for IB classes, Advanced Placement classes, courses taken at colleges, and (for Californians) classes the UCs classify as “honors”.
If a student gets a C or better in these classes, they are weighted a bit more- an A is worth 5 points, a B is worth 4 points, and a C is worth 3 points. So if a person received As in advanced courses, their GPA may be over 4.0.

But I’m sure the UCs will consider the fact you live outside the US and may not have access to these programs while making their decisions.

@Autumnal thanks =] all my classes are IB classes though so they don’t grade us by A, B, C but 1 - 7 (7 being the highest) & i’ve seen conversions where a 7 is an A and 4 is a C, so that makes things a bit complicated but i get it now thanks =]
