I would have had a higher junior year gpa, but due to a personal loss my gpa went straight doen from a 3.6 to a 3.08 weighted. However im gon a writr about the loss and itd effect on my grades in my extra comment section.

What personal loss?

It might also help if your GC addresses how the loss affected your grades and my condolences.

You need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Your ACT is very competitive, but depending upon how the AdComs view your essays, you may have a difficult time with many of the UC’s. I would not send in your SAT and have you taken any SAT subject tests? These may help overcome some of the lower Junior year grades if you do well.

Without knowing anything about your loss and circumstances,
UCR/UCM/UCSC could be Matches

The rest of the UC’s would be Reaches since they are very GPA focused.

The Best of Luck to you.

My grandfather who lived with me throughout my years in india, btw i lived there for 8 yrs and moved when i was 8.
My parents both worked while i was there, so he pretty much cared for me along with my grandmother and taught me a lot about my heritage. My UC gap i believe is exactly 3.0. Also, my grandfather passed away at the beginning of my junior year so i really suffered, i got the high act score my senior year(last month).

my essays are on-
cultural differences, like when i came from India i was segregated for various reasons and expected to assimilate and americanize, but i didn’t want to change myself for anyone and wanted to maintain my values and my indian heritage.
My second one is on my accomplishment of getting 12th place in State championships(chess).

Also i was in many prestigious clubs for all 4 years, and am from california.
