Your scores and class rigor are low for all of those colleges but maybe pick one of them to apply to as a reach school.

Okay, i’m going to assume your sat is weighted, correct?
On a positive note, your ec’s are stellar! That being said, For most of these colleges your sat is low, as is your course load gpa and SAT score (except American, where it’s 25th percentile)
Although it is a bit of a reach, American is still very possible- I’d give you a 50/50.
GWU, on the other hand, Is a bit of a further reach, but not impossible; as I said, you have very good ec’s that complement your intended major. However, once again, your gpa is still quite low, especially with your course load.

Although I personally know very little about NYU and Boston university due to my lack of interest in applying to either, From a quick glance at the stats, Boston is a slight reach and NYU is a large reach, however, anything is possible. Good luck!

I attended a BU admissions show, and they gave a presentation depicting the stats of three candidates, after which we voted on who was most likely to be accepted. To the surprise of the audience, all of the candidates were considered “competitive applicants who would be accepted at BU”. That being said, so long as you have a great essay (BIG emphasis on the essay here), I would say you are definitely in. It’s actually my #1 safety school.

^ To be more clear, the candidate samples differed in their levels of course rigor and extracurricular involvement, as well as SAT scores. One girl, for example, had mediocre grades (including a 2.8 GPA senior year!)and limited involvement, but a good essay, and got in. None of them were stellar or really very impressive, for that matter. Good luck; I’m sure BU would be happy to have you! :)

Yeah my essay and extracurriculars are what I’m hoping will be enough to make up for my awful sat scores. Additionally, I’m from California so does that help…?

it won’t be enough for nyu

… and the preferred candidate happened to have the lowest GPA out of all the three applicants; I went to the reception earlier this month.

^Yeah, I thought that was an interesting presentation. Not what I was expecting…I thought it was cool that they gave us examples like that, though.
