I’m planning to apply ED as well, especially if I like the school.
Visit or try to show interest somehow!!! A lot of people this year got denied or waitlisted even if they had high stats or stats right in line with what they accepted. Definitely write one of the optional essays on your common app, and if you’re interested in any, apply to one of their special programs just so you have a one-up on others. Your stats should be fine though, your GPA might be a little low but you’ll have a good chance if you show interest
@gk1733, do they really deny a lot of overqualified applicants? I always thought it was just because they didn’t want to accept people who were not planning to attend.
@ComputerGuy365 they definitely deny a lot of overqualified applicants regardless of whether or not they’ve shown interest
it’s a combination of denial for both not showing enough interest in the university as a whole (like treating the school as a safety if they can’t get into an ivy-league or its equivalent) and also not knowing why the applicants themselves want to attend AU in the first place. The school is getting more and more competitive by the year, and that doesn’t mean it only excludes the less grade-savy applicants. So showing your passion for what you wanna study and why at AU in you essay and visiting are the two biggest things I can recommend, and it’ll only help if you apply ED!
