(1)I wrote about my experience in China, focused on teaching English to a little boy & how education and something as fundamental as language allowed me to build a relationship & how the joy the boy got out of me teaching him the months in English inspired me, because being able to give back what I learned like that was incredible.
(2)Wrote about my church and how its ethos of 'embracing humanity' has pushed me beyond my normal boundaries-especially in regards to modern day slavery. Talked about being part of a project to advocate the end to modern day slavery & how the advocates and organizations I've been introduced to through my church has given me hope & a strong passion for change.

Hi--

I think your chances are okay...your GPA is holding you back. But your essays sound great, and I think there's a definite chance you could get in. Good luck!

(Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/608723-i-d-adore-you-if-you-d-chance-me.html)

hey thanks!
Yeah, I kinda screwed up junior year and my gpa suffered. hopefully i'll be good enough in other areas to help balance things out

No problem. :)

(I was speaking specifically of Amherst, btw...I think you're a shoe-in for BC.)

bumpbump
anyone else? ='

You've got a solid shot, by all means. Good luck!

bummppp
pleaseeee anyone? chances to those other schools?

bumpbump
ill chance u back!

nice stats.

BC & BU=safety
Amherst=match

chance back!

A non top 10% rank is probably gonna hurt, but your SAT’s should make up for it somewhat.

Amherst - reach
Brown - reach
Columbia -reach
NYU - high match
Tufts - low reach
Boston College - match
Boston University - low match/safety
Northwestern - low reach
UCLA - ?
UC Berkley - ?
UCSD - ?

Chance back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/748621-chance-ivies.html

Just to start off… impressive stats! haha :)

Just one question: are you from California? If you are, then…
You definetely have a very high chance of getting into the UC’s (if not all); you’ll definetely get into UCSD hands down. Smile! You’re ASB president, which is like an instant access to many schools, combined with your not so bad grades and extracurriculars.
If you’re not, well, it’s going to be easier getting into better ranked private schools due to budget cuts. California remains loyal to its own; how do I know? My cousin was accepted into University of Chicago, Washington University in St. Louis, Dartmouth, and Northwestern, but was rejected from UCSD. Harsh, I know.
NYU and Boston College is a definite acceptance, most likely.
Northwestern is probably a good reach-- your extracurriculars back you up well.
Brown and Columbia are probably good reaches as well-- just write a fantastic essay.
I’m not really quite sure for the other colleges, but that’s as far as I know haha.

But overall, your extracurriculars are great, and your SAT score is around mid range for the top tier schools, so you’ve got a chance.
An abot your GPA: your weighted GPA is good for someone with an unweighted GPA of 3.6 . But don’t worry about grades too much; as I’ve said before, your extracurriculars will back you up.
Good luck! :)

ps. chance me too? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/749162-chance-rice-emory.html
