chances at any ivies

ok i am hispanic, ib diploma candidate... VP of debate team this yr and going to be president next year.. going to be secretary of NHS next yr as well.. and secretary of mu alpha theta (math club) ....

uw gpa : 3.5
weighted gpa : 4.7
SAT I: 1350
SAT II: spanish w/ listening 800

all AP/IB courses ( the hardest possible schedule)
class rank so far : 17/660

what are my chances at any of the ivy league universities? thanks

I'm not going to lie, it's not looking good...at all. the only thing you've got going for you is the fact you are a minrity. Don'tget me wrong, you aren't stupid (AT ALL) it's just that the ivy's a re so damn competitive that your scores will not stand a chance. If you are junior, you have a lot of chances to make it up though, especially your SAT score. I suggest you take the ACT as well (I sure wish I took the ACT). Have you done anything productive over the summer? B/c that would help.

However, do not forget there are many other fine institutions oyt there such as Rice, U of chicago, northwester, duke, washu, vandy, tufts, georgetown, etc...

I wish you luck!

oh wow... lol shot me down quick.. my college advisor at my school said i had a great chance and this is what i hear from everyone... whats a good ivy league SAT score?

lol sorry, I was reading my reply over again and I felt I sounded like a ***** lol. Every university has a range of a middle 50%. You wanna get as close to the 75% percentile as possible and better if possible. Again, no score will gaureentee admissions. Colleges needs kids taht will add to life not just smart kids. You gotta be smart and well you dont have to be as interesting as other people you need to show interest in something...extreme interest.

With good recs and solid SATIIs you certainly have a fair shot at all but HYP. Maybe even those. But as a hispanic, don't turn in a spanish SATII.

at Duke yes turn it in. Duke as far as I know is the only college (among the presitigous ones) that accepts native lang. SATII scores and takes it into consideration.

you have a very small chance. read what others said above

I'll buck the trend here. You are in the top 3% of a large class, your SAT's are respectable enough (same scores will get you in any ivy if you are an athlete they want), that combined with hispanic and I'd say you have a pretty good chance. Your EC's could be stronger for the ivies though.

ok little update... well so far i am looking at 4As, 2 Bs final grade (this is my junior year ) and my class schedule is all AP/IB courses now.. by the end of high school, i expect to have about a 5.2-5.4 weigted GPA.... i have tons more EC's but dont feel like posting them all.. but i focus mostly on my debate team which i qualified for the state competition this year... and also in FBLA which i also qualified for the state competition this year.. ...

what ACT score would i need in order to be considered by some of the ivy leagues? please post freely with any other comments as well, thanks a lot everyone..

any thing guys? thanks
