Hi, I'm a student from Amity High School in Woodbridge, CT who was wondering what my chances are of getting into the College of Arts and Sciences for Early Decision. My accomplishments:

Academic stats: I have a 3.932 GPA out of a maximum of 4 (we don't weight the GPAs) with an 18.249 Quality Point Average, which is weighted for difficulty of classes. In terms of class rank, I'm third. I got a 2270 on the SAT Reasoning: 800 Math, 710 Crit. Reading, 760 Writing. I've taken 4 SAT IIs, the two best of which are a 780 on Math IC and a 780 on U.S. History.

Awards: I've received three academic awards from my school: The Cornell Book Award, the Society of Women's Engineers Award, and an award for getting a perfect score on the Math section of the CAPT standardized test. In addition, I am as of now a National Merit Semifinalist, as well as a member of the National Honors Society and National Spanish Honors Society.

School activities: I don't participate in any sports, but I'm a very active member of the school's music department-I play tenor saxophone in the wind ensemble, which plays at concerts, football games, and marches, and I play tenor saxophone and guitar in the jazz band, which we audition for in order to get in. I am an active member of the Debate Society, and have won several individual and team awards in some regional tournaments that we compete in with teams of two people. I am also a member of Junior Statesman of America, a Model Congress-style organization, and I was voted best speaker in my session of around 120 people at the Winter Congress national convention last year. I also am a peer tutor for any subject that my tutees need help in, as well as a writer for the school newspaper, the Trident.

Community service: I volunteer 2-8 hours every week at the Masonic Geriatric Healthcare Center, a nursing home. I assist in transporting residents to activities, and have been doing this for about a year and a half. I have about 150-200 hours total. In addition, I volunteer as an organizer for children's activities once a year for the annual North South Foundation Bike-a-Thon, which raises money to give to poor children in India.

Other programs: I was chosen by delegation leaders of the New Haven County section of the People to People program to be a student ambassador on the trip we took to Australia and New Zealand this past summer, where we represented the U.S. as ambassadors, interacted with citizens from these two countries, and stayed with host families.

Employment: I worked 14 hours a week as an administrative assistant during the summer of 2004 at First Base, a sports collectibles store in Wallingford, CT. I organized and sorted stock. In addition, I'm volunteering during this year's election season for the Republican Party of Orange, CT, posting signs, timekeeping at debates, and making campaign phone calls.

If you're still reading by now, I'd just like to finish by saying that I was totally blown away by Cornell and would love the opportunity to attend the university. What would you say about my chances of admission?
